This is an excuse that is growing increasingly more and more popular as time goes on.
True: Going to church does not save you or get you a ticket to heaven.
True: You can show love and devotion to God outside of a church building.
True: You are disobeying the LORD if you do not gather together regularly with the saints (other believers).
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
True: Jesus said that those who love me will keep my commandments.
True: Not going to church shows a lack of love for God because you are not willing to do what He says.
Sound harsh? That is not my intension. It is just a simple truth. Sometimes we can let simple, basic truths slip away from us. The process of being corrected can seem harsh, but it more so is to LOVE you. To allow someone to continue living in a way contrary to their convictions is more harsh than confronting.
So, the excuse of not going to church because you can still love God is really about something else… Isn’t it?
Do you not trust God?
Do you not believe Jesus is God?
Are you unaware of what Jesus said about gathering?
Do you value your time over church?
Do you have social anxiety?
Are you intimidated to go to church?
Have you had a bad experience?
I could go on and on with reasons… Would you be willing to share yours in the comments below?
Thanks for reading and peace be with you.
