Theme Thursday: Adaptogens
I don’t know about you, but I see so much stress in this world. Some stress we bring on ourselves (if we are honest) and some stressors come out of nowhere and blindside side us. In today’s society, it is not really a matter if you will or will not face stress, it is how much stress and how severe?
Stress is an interesting concept. The same stressful event can produce a wide range of stress reactions in different people. There are a whole slew of factors that impact our reaction to stressful events. For example: experiencing another recent stressor, amount of sleep, experiencing something similar in the past, trauma history, proximity to the stressor, personality, faith/spirituality, etc.
I am going to share with you a way to prepare yourself to give yourself a strong foundation for managing stress. Stress can keep us from functioning optimally in our many life roles. It can lead to physical illness or ailment, mess with our hormones, metabolism, and sleep. I do not think I need to do much convincing to get you on board with preparing yourself as best as possible to deal with stress!
ADAPTOGENS! Adaptogens are herbs that have special properties that help protect the body from stress, support the immune system, and balance the endocrine system (addresses hormones, metabolism, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, mood, etc). They are able to recharge our adrenal glands which is our body’s mechanism to help us deal with stress. This includes the making and storing the chemicals our brain needs to stabilize and our body to utilize energy more efficiently.
Getting natural, pure sources of the following adaptogens can help you be a stress busting machine! Here are some examples:
- Maiktake (mushroom)
- Reishi (mushroom)
- Tulsi (holy basil)
All nutrients are most effective in their pure form, that is why I do NOT take vitamins. If you are interested in getting these rare and effective adaptogens in your system, click this link if you are ready for the investment in your health. Please contact me with questions!
I would love to hear your thoughts and if you currently are using any of these adaptogens!
